The Centre for Biomolecular Sciences (CBS)

The Centre for Biomolecular Sciences (CBS) at the University of Nottingham is a collaboration between 7 Schools across 3 Faculties and houses nearly 400 scientists in an environment that promotes core science and interdisciplinary research in the areas of chemistry, biology and engineering. The diversity of research extends from experimental and theoretical modelling to pharmacological targeting.
CBS hosts over 40 principal investigators who organise themselves into informal and occasionally substantial teams. The current head of CBS is Peter Fischer, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry.
CBS’s areas of research include:
| Gene Regulation | Protein Crystallography |
| RNA Biology | Protein Structure |
| Structural Biology and Biophysics | Mathematical Modelling |
| Healthcare Associated Infections | Applied Optics and Engineering |
| Infections, Immunity and Inflammation | Organic Chemistry |
| Cancer Cell Biology | Molecular Bacteriology |
| Stem Cell Research | Molecular Recog1818nition |
| Tissue Engineering | Digestive Diseases |
| Medicinal Chemistry | Collaborative Computational Project for Biomolecular Simulation |
